HOW DO WE CONDUCT THE ASH SCATTERING CEREMONY?
Our base port is Port OlÍmpic, Barcelona, the departure point and where our vessel, a luxury motor yacht with a capacity for 11 people, is moored.
We can depart from other harbours, although the ashes must be thrown in front of Port OlÍmpic, where we are authorised to do so.
The crew on board will welcome the clients, familiarising them with the craft and explaining how the service will be performed, where and when to deposit the urn. We will then be leaving the port.
The navigation to the point where the ashes will be spread will be about 10-15 minutes and over 2 nautical miles (about 3km). It will be a calm navigation to the place where the client will conduct the ceremony and deposit the urn.
The farewell ceremony can be accompanied by music of the client’s choice and a floral offering. Once the commemoration has taken place, the clients will return to port and will be offered a selection of drinks accompanied by a small appetizer.
A nautical chart showing the position where the urn was placed will be provided to the port.
The service can last about 1h 30 min.
INFORMATION TO BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT WHEN THROWING ASHES AT SEA
The activity will be carried out during daytime.
The service can be performed, subject to confirmation by us 48h/72h before the arranged day. This is the time required by the Capitanía Marítima de Barcelona to present the documentation.
A cremation certificate or document will be required.
The urn must be certified as biodegradable, it is forbidden to deposit urns that are not ecological or that contain materials that are not biodegradable,
We can provide you with compliant urns if required.
According to regulations, it is prohibited to throw any object other than the biodegradable urn from the vessel. It is only allowed to accompany the ceremony with natural flower petals.
We are an authorized company to deposit the ashes of a deceased at sea.
The craft has the necessary certificates, licences, and permits, issued by the Ministerio de Fomento, Capitanía Marítima de Barcelona, the Generalitat de Catalunya, and by Departament de Territori, to conduct the activity.
